Activation Issues

Hi all,

So heres whats happened. I bought a new PC, ASUS laptop (N61vn). For reasons not relevant to the issue, i needed to re-install the OS. So i put in the recovery disc, all goes well and soon im back in Windows 7 Home Premium. So far so good. I then proceed to enter my upgrade key to Windows 7 Ultimate. Once again, all goes well and im soon going through all the motions of installing the programs i like, need for work, getting the settings the way i like etc, etc.

Today i look at Computer>Properties and realise i have 2 days until automatic activation, so i thought i would activate today. Press the button and it asks to activate online now, so i press yes and try to activate.

It asks for my product key, so i enter my win 7 ultimate upgrade key, and get denied cause its only for upgrades. So i enter the key off the bottom of the notebook, and get denied cause i am using wrong version of windows.

Any ideas on how i can activate without re-installing?

and you try to activate it with an Ultimate update key?? What was the original OS that your notebook came with?? It sounds like it wasnt Home Premium... You may indeed have to reinstall ...

Yeah i really dont wanna do that though.... it does originally come with Home Premium. I think i should of activated that first, before doing the upgrade huh :-(
