Solved Activation

Hey Guys,

This is Just a question... That is if you Activate an OEM License Software it Ties it to the Motherboard it was Installed on then If I get a New Motherboard I would need a New Copy of Windows , Correct?

And if I added something like RAM Will I need a New Copy of Windows or Not?

Also If I ever needed to Reinstall Windows Will I need another Activation or will it be okay on the Motherboard It was originally Installed on?

I have installed new and more RAM without activation being an issue.
Don't know about Motherboard or Reinstall.

Hello mate.


If it's "retail" OEM it gets forever tied to the first mobo it's installed to.

It can be reinstalled as many times as necessary to that same mobo, using that same activation key.

One Last thing before I mark this Thread as Solved is that If I restore from a System Image , Will I have to reactivate Windows?

As long as you restore the image on the same system, you will not have to re-activate ...

If activation fails for any reason, you should be able to reactivate by the automated telephone system.

Go to Start and type slui.exe 4 and select the correct telephone number for your region then follow the automated instructions.
