I am having a bit of a nightmare with a new installation that looks like taking a long time to resolve. After installing W7 Pro microsoft allows about a month (?) for activation. Then I assume you will get nag popups that get more and more insistant. Does the nag sequence reset if I change the date, ie. set the calendar back a month?

No it does not help to change the date, as the timer is based on an internal counter - counting days - with the assistance of the internet - you can continue to use the crippled version as long as you wish, and with all MS support stopping in a few days I doubt that MS will care enough to do anything
