Hello

You may think I'm really stupid but please help me if you can!!!

I have a laptop connected to my network wirelessly and my sister has a desktop (with wireless) but it can't connect to the network because there are too many walls between the PC and the router. So she can't connect to the internet.
I got a booster but it hasn't helped and I really don't want to have cables running through my house.

So, today, I thought about using and ad hoc connection to share my internet. My laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and the desktop has windows xp sp2.

I made an ad hoc network from my laptop and connected to it on the desktop.

My problem is the internet sharing.

When the ad hoc is on my laptop disconnects from my wireless network (the internet connection).

Is there a way that they can both be connected so I can share my internet connection.

If however there is another way to get internet on the desktop, please tell me!!!

Thanks in advance

Anton

You could use a Wireless Access Point instead. Still no cables and you won't have to share your internet connection.

Oh and...

Nah. You won't be called stupid on this forum I'm quite sure. We're here to help (and occasionally educate), not offend.

I'd like to second the Wireless Access Point/Bridge. You would have to run wires to that (except a bridge, I believe), but it'd boost your range noticeably.

Also do Wireless Bazooka's exist anymore (I forget the technical name for them, but basically it was just an access point with a directional antenna on it)?

It's not a program mate, a Wireless Access Point is hardware. It's a small device connected to your router so computers and such which are relatively far away from your computer can connect wirelessly to the access point which connects them to the router.

Also do Wireless Bazooka's exist anymore (I forget the technical name for them, but basically it was just an access point with a directional antenna on it)?

Don't know if they still exist, they probably do, but they're far from popular, lol.

I am not sure if you are using DSL or CABLE... but i am sure you have multiple outlets in the house.

Is there any possible way that you can move the Cable or DSL to a different location so that it will benefit you both...

I understand that you don't want to run wires, so why not use the wires that are already strung in the house.
