hi, i have a Belkin F6D4050 adapter

Code:
http://www.belkin.com/uk/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=480913

Specifications:
Compliant Standard: IEEE 802.11b/802.11g (WiFi Certified)
Hardware Interface Type: USB 2.0
Humidity: Operating: 10 ~ 85%, Storing: 5 ~ 90% non-condensing
LEDs: Power/Activity
Link Rate: 150 Mbps (In 40Mhz Mode)
Radio Frequency Band: ISM Band: 2400-2483.5 MHz (2.4 GHz)
Radio Frequency Band1 :Europe: 1-13
Security : WEP (64-128bit), WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES) with WPS Push Button
Supporting Software: Windows 2000, XP or Vista

Link rate is stated as 150 but I have my router set to 300. When I lower it on the router to 150 the transfer rate drops as it would but I tried with the router set to 300 and it increased a lot, again as it would. question I have is with my router set to 300 and my adapter 150, although all is working ok at the minute will I be confronted by any problems? By the way the router I'm using at the moment doesn't have a 20/40Mhz mode, I think its auto with no options/tabs for that setting.

Hi LonnieMac,

If this type of setting helps a lot, you may leave it as is.

will do. the only issue I've come across so far is the adapter heating up.

That doesn't sounds good. Perhaps if you can invest in the future another adapter that would work well with your router, just a thought.
