Hi FAUSTOCG, Welcome to Seven Forums

Does your laptop only connect wirelessly with your USB adapter or do you have a built in Wi-Fi?
What is the brand/model of the USB Wi-Fi adapter?

Do you know what type of security your parents Wi-Fi is? Some examples could be (WPA, WPA2, WEP, 802.1x)
You can check this by clicking on the Network icon, right click on the Wi-Fi network then select properties. Then click on the security tab.

In manage wireless networks, is your parents Wi-Fi name listed? If it is remove it. Then try to connect to it again.

Does the same thing happen to your own network? Or do you have a Ethernet connection instead?

I have some suggestions that might work:

  • Try to connect to the Wi-Fi network, using safe mode with networking (Press F8 at startup)
  • Reinstall your Wireless Network Connection driver & update to the most recent driver version
  • Troubleshoot (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Network and Internet) Select "Network Adapter"
The main problem as you said:
it is a windows issue

So I think it would be something to do with the way windows is connecting wirelessly to networks.
I hope one of these works :).

Anyone else have any ideas for this?
