Having more than a little trouble grasping how to add a new refurbished Dell Lattitude E6240 laptop running Win7 Pro 64 bit to an existing home network. Here's the map of that network:
(The unknown device denoted by the huge question mark is a Motorola Surfboard cable modem.)
I'm fully able to work online, this post being a prime example. What I cannot do is physically connect the laptop via Ethernet cable to my router and it be discovered, go online and work with it.
I need specific and exact instructions how to create a new network that would include the laptop and it be able to be removed and re-connected from time-to-time for updating or sharing files----this laptop would not normally be online except for downloading new information and sharing (transferring) data to the home PC (also running Win7 Pro 64 Bit. I'm as dumb as a newborn with most of this so keep that in mind.
I hope this is making sense----I'll try to explain further if that'd be helpful.
Thanks so much in advance---grateful for any help at all!
