adding screen resolution above 1024

may be this is not the right place but frm forums only i had got a reply that all windows architecture is same
earlier i has XP so i had all the drivers needed for the system configuration
i had screen resolution above 1024 which i culd set but after win 2008 server 64 bit installation i dont get any screen reoslution above 1024 , this is the last resolution i can set right now , how do i change it.

secondaly all the screen & other windows display doesnot seem proper.
how do i rectify it

Whomever told you the architecture has not changed since XP was obviously clueless ...

Vista introduced a number of architecture changes, among them being new video and audio models.

The changes were so dramatic, that they were continued in Vista SP1.

This resulted in the situation where video and audio drivers that worked in XP, and relied on XP-specific architecture components, no longer worked in Vista.

Max resuoltion depends on the native reso of your display. Don't tweak it otherwise. My display's reso is 1680x1050, in windows 7 i can increase it to 1920x1080 but when i do that its a mess-up whole screen looks fuzzy.

If your monitor and video card support the higher resolutions, but they aren't available, you may have to update your mother board and video card drivers.
