Hi everyone,

Its my first time to SevenForums so please forgive the noob. I'd be really grateful if somebody could help me with my query.

I would like the option to have shortcuts to Computer, Control Panel, Recycle Bin, Desktop and my own folder on the context menu. I already know how to add new program options to the desktop context menu through RegEdit. However, try as I might, I cannot do the same with system folder shortcuts.

Any help would be really appreciated, as its beginning to drive me mad. I've already tried programs like SmartClick and YourMenu and they've been of no help.

Thanks a bundle guys!

Thank you richc46! But unfortunately I already know those methods but still can't seem to get system folder shortcuts (i.e. .lnk shortcuts) to appear on my context menu.

If anyone has a solution please let me know. Thank you!

When you deal with Brink, you are dealing with the best. Just wait until you see the great tut that he prepares for you. I learned something new from one of them, just last night.

Richc46, I see you're absolutely right.

Brink, thank you SO much. Its tremendously appreciated. By all means, post the Desktop one whenever you feel comfortable and free enough to do so. The fact that you've finished the others is downright amazing. Many thanks!

It seems that I can't find one for a universal Desktop folder no matter the logged in user. :(

Just Curious Brink

I know this is an old post and probably deserves a pm message so apologies ahead of time. How would I create a shortcut to another folder inside my context menu like the hack to add a user folder shortcut to the context menu on your desktop,(or anywhere while right clicking). Is it as simple as copying the directory path of the folder to the CLSID key, or does that only pertain to the desktop only. My Registry familiarity is not what it should be. By the by, I want to add a folder inside my admin folder "Customizations" to my context menu. Sorry for dragging on and thanks ahead of time. Sw1

Hello sw1maz, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you could post the full path of the folder and it's name you wanted in your desktop context menu, I'll be happy to past back with a REG file for you be able to add and remove it from the desktop context menu later in the morning. :)

Okey doke sw1maz. :)

Just so that you will know, that this will add Customizetations to the Desktop context menu of all users, but only the Administrator user account will actually be able to open the folder unless you set access permissions of the Customizetations folder to allow any other user you want to be able to open it (read/write/etc..).

Here's how:
1. Download the attached ZIP file below to your desktop.
2. open the ZIP file and extract (drag and drop) the 3 files to your desktop.
3. Unblock the Customizetations.vbs file, copy it into your C:\Windows folder, and click on Continue to allow it to be copied there.

To Add:
1. Double click on the Add_Customizetations_to_Desktop_Context_Menu.reg file, and click on Run, Yes, Yes, and OK to approve.

To Remove:
1. Double click on the Remove_Customizetations_from_Desktop_Context_Menu.reg file, and click on Run, Yes, Yes, and OK to approve.
2. Delete the Customizetations.vbs file in your C:\Windows folder.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
