Adding virtual network adapter

Could anybody please help me how I can get to this dialogue in w7?

I need to add a virtual Network Adapter (Microsoft Loopback Adapter), but all I can do is to get to a "waiting for connected devices" dialogue... Is there any way to manually add some device in w7?

Hi,
I think you can't do that in device manager anymore.
Instead, you might try this one: The DevCon command-line utility functions as an alternative to Device Manager

Simply download & unpack. Then open a command line in the i386 or ia64 folder of the tool. For your purpose running

devcon.exe install %windir%\inf\netloop.inf *msloop

should do the trick.
You should then see output similar to this:
Device node created. Install is complete when drivers are updated...
Updating drivers for *msloop from C:\WINDOWS\inf\netloop.inf.
Drivers updated successfully.

Now the adapter is ready to configure/use.

hey, that could be a great idea, but there one problem - when I run the program from i64 folder it says that its not compatible with my version of Windows (im runnin w7 64b build 7000 ), and when I run it from the second directory it instantly exits the program automatically... help?? :-/

Ah well...i only tried it on my 32bit install and assumed it would just work the same with x64.

Hopefully this one works for you:
Open an elevated command line and run hdwwiz.exe

I know this is an old post.

If people are still struggling to add the microsoft loopback adaptor, This method works for x64 and x86 versions of the operating systems, open device manager, select network category and choose action -> add legacy hardware. from there select the advanced method to install the adaptor. you will be given a list of hardware categories, select all hardware, and from the list select microsoft -> microsoft loopback adaptor.

select next, next and finish... and the adaptor will be installed. (this is good for windows 7 and windows 2008/r2

i know how to put or install the loopback adapter the problem is its stays unidentified and i cant use it.

I have the same problem too! I even set the IP automatically but it won't connect !
