Additional Hard Drives Inaccessable

I have a problem on my Windows 7 machine that I can't figure out. The system has 5 hard drives (2 1TB and 3 500GB), a quad core AMD Phenom, 4GB of RAM, an Asus Mobo, and a Thermaltake 500W PSU.

I had everything up and running for a few weeks and now my two 1TB drives don't show up in explorer. The other 3 drives are working well. The only thing I did was move the PC into another room. I shut down, switched off the PSU and then unplugged it.

All HDDs show in the BIOS and in Disk Management. In DM the two problem drives do not have drive letters and the option to assign is grayed our. In fact all options except delete and help are inop.

I have run the WD disk tool and Spinrite and neither has found any problems with the drives. I have also disconnected and shuffled the power and SATA cables, disconnecting the good 500s to see if it was a power problem - no help.

As a near last resort, I slicked my system drive and installed a fresh W7. Same problem.

I'm hoping that there is some alternative to formatting them and loosing 1.5TB of data.

Any ideas?

All you need to do is to use a third party app like paragon disk suite to assign a drive letter.

Another suggestion would be to update your chipset drivers if zig zag suggestion doesnt work - try one of these sites

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- - input your motherboard name in search or select

There are 2 areas you can click in DM - one in the middle, and one over to the left where it says disk 0 etc - right click there, and see what options show.
