Address Bar is ridiculously small

Hi guys,
I know this isn't a problem with all installations of Win7, since it works on my laptop, but since upgrading to Win7 x64 on my desktop, the address (breadcrumb) bar has shrunk in all the open/save as dialogs.

Example:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is extremely unusable...

Thanks!
LH

Hi Lord Haart and welcome to Se7en Forums

Move your cursor to the area highlighted. It will change to a double-ended horizontal arrow - use this to drag the bars left or right to make them larger or smaller.

Thanks for the tip. :) Unfortunately, that only changes it for as long as that dialog is open - it defaults back to being tiny. :(

Is there some registry key or something that sets this? Could it be because I upgraded instead of doing a clean install? Would a repair installation fix it, or am I out of luck?

Hello Lord Haart, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Strange, after you change the length of the address and search bar and close the window, it should stay as you set it the next time you open it. At least in the 7068 build it does for me. What build number do you have?

Shawn

Works fine for me as well.

I changed the size as per instructions shut it all down and opened it up again

Size is as I last set it.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses! :)

I have the beta (build 7000) installed. To clarify, the address/search bar proportions are fine in Windows Explorer, but when I try to open a file, or save one, then the problem occurs in that dialog. So I was hoping that there's some registry setting that determines the default length - I can change it for the dialog once it opens, but next time I open or save, the search bar is huge again.

I'd settle for getting rid of the search bar, since I rarely use it, but use the breadcrumb bar all the time.

Thanks!
LH

David,

Yeah, the Open or Save as type windows have never saved the last view settings even from Vista for me either. Only in Windows Explorer. :(
