Basically long story short, my laptop no longer connects to adhocs (P2P) networks yet still connects to the internet through wifi.

I've been trying to run a LAN game for CoD all day since I finally got lvl 55 >.>

So any help guys??

oh and my OS is windows 7 32-bit :)

*** another fact. i can setup my own adhoc but other users can't connect then***

You may want to consider using a program such as Connectify.

Connectify simplifies the whole business of ad hoc networking while allowing you to both be connected to and host a different WiFi hot spot at the same time.

There is also a dedicated ad hoc mode.

Connectify - Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

I would also post a link to a driver update page but your System Specs aren't accurate enough (there are several dozen variants of the HP Compaq CQ50), if you aren't sure what model you have use a tool such as Speccy.

If you want to find the WiFi driver yourself look at Compaq Presario CQ50-100 Notebook PC series -  Download drivers and software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center and download an appropriate WiFi driver (the most recent one).

This seams strange and more likely to do with corrupt/infected system files.

Please first run Malware Byte's Antimalware and see if it finds and removes any Malware.

Then open an Elevated Command Prompt and run 'SFC /SCANNOW' without the quotes and see if it finds any problems.

Crikey! Do you have an Antivirus installed?

If you don't get one now!!

I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials because of its freeness and its small footprint. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

The antivirus, malware bytes or Ad-Hoc Network isn't working?

I would seriously consider if in your boots doing a clean install, having that many infected files get past your antivirus is a worrying sign and likely means your computer is severely damaged/compromised.

If you need help on doing a clean install just ask.

IF however you choose not to do a clean install then I would definitely do a repair install, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html.

This will do, something, to counter your PCs infections but likely won't do anything noticeable let alone fix your Ad Hoc problems.

It is likely that the infection is responsible for your PCs Ad-Hoc problems.

Doing a clean install will require that you start a fresh leaving no programs installed or settings in place but that means that the damage caused by the infection will be gone and most likely your Ad-Hoc problems will be solved.
