Adjust resolution to match monitor capabilities

My display shows 1680x1050 with no higher options available and my monitor has the capability of 1920x1200. I would like to get the maximum use of it. I have an ATI Radeon 5700 and just installed the latest drivers.


Does anyone know if my video card will support this or where to find out?

If the resolution isn't listed then your card probably won't support it.

Thanks, I was looking thru other posts and found a link to Speccy and it looks like my resolution is at max for the 5700. What a great way to see all my specs..... I'm so glad I found this forum, I've learned a lot in the last year but I still have a long way to go.

Except that the card does support resolutions higher than that,

• Integrated DisplayPort output
  • Max resolution: 2560x1600
• Integrated HDMI 1.3 output with Deep Color, xvYCC wide gamut support and high bit-rate audio
  • Max resolution: 1920x1200
• Integrated VGA output
  • Max resolution: 2048x1536

You didn't specify 5750 or 5770, but it doesn't matter as thoe specs sre the same for both.

Next question is, how is the monitor connected?

This is for a 5750
It appears resolution is affected by means of connection. 1900x1200 should be easy.

Speccy as far as I can see just shows what your current resolution is set to, unless I'm missing something, not the max supported. What does Device Manager show for monitor type? You might have to get a driver (inf file) for it from the manufacturer.

Yes, if thats who made the monitor. There may or may not be one available. If the monitor is correctly identified in device manager you don't need a driver file for it.

I have t connected with DVI but I could use an HDMI instead if that would be better. From what I see here, just about all of them would work.

I have Nvidia.

If it is similar which I haven't a clue yet you can set resolution through Windows or through Nvidia.
Nvidia has more resolutions not just native Windows.
To get to Nvidia controls all you have to do is right click the desk top in an open area and left click Nvidia Control Panel.

So you MIGHT have something similar but it might be accessed somewhere else.
