Hello again guys,

Another problem with my HP p6823w.
With Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I have the only account on this computer.
Also, I am the Administrator.

I cannot install any MSI programs, at all.
The message says "The system Administer has set policies to prevent this installation."

I have tried everything.

Thanks in advanced,
CProgrammer3088

Hi CProgrammer3088,

My name is Sampad C and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

Step 1:
Run the software setup file as an administrator and check if it helps.
a. Right click on the setup file of the software that you are trying to install.
b. Select "Run as administrator".

Step 2:
Temporarily disable the antivirus software running on the computer and check if you are able to install the software.

Disable antivirus software
Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 3:
a. Click Start, type "Local Security Policy" (without quotes) and press enter.
b. Click on Software Restriction Policies.
c. In the right pane, double click on the "enforcement".
d. Select "All users except local administrators".
e. Click Ok and restart the computer and check if the issue is fixed.

kindly revert for further clarifications

Hi CProgrammer3088,

Try installing the same program in safe mode with networking and check what happens.
Also have you tried creating a different user account with administrator privilages?

Let me know if this worked or not.

Still doesn't work in safe mode.
Also, using the hidden system administrator account works.

It must be a corrupt registry thing?

Thanks,

Hi CProgrammer3088,

Yes, it seems like it.
Have you tried creating a new user account with administrator privilages and check if the problem persists with the new account as well.

Let me know what happens.

I made a new account named "Bob" as a administrator account.
That account has full and unrestricted access to this PC.

I will say that on my normal account the main problem is i cant do MSI installers and other minor details.

What should I do?

Thanks,

Try this on your usual account

Start> In search box type cmd> Right click on cmd.exe in results above and choose Run as administrator> When advanced command prompt opens, type

msiexec.exe /a (name of msi installer).msi

Example:

msiexec.exe /a itunes.msi (just a made up example)

Enter

Does that run the installer?

Am I correct in thinking that the new user you created had no issue running the msi installer?

A Guy
