Booted today to a blue screen -- Windows would not load so it had to repair itself. 15 min later it loaded and all was fine.

WAS

McAfee is popping up every 2 minutes, first about files in Browser Defender. Tried to click Remove but 35 min later it still is popping up. Second was about a file in c:/prog----3/. Same deal.

So I went into File Manager...

SpyBot pops up, telling me it wants to allow RemoveTaskManager AND RemoveIForgotButItWasVitaLikeTaskmnager. Naturally I said DENY and set it to keep saying that as it kept popping up.

By now I'm ready to SCREAM but continued into FileManager. Under C I have no /prog ending in 3, just the regular ProgramFiles and (x86). I just found BrowserDefender and hit Delete. Nuh uh. I on't have Administrative Rights.

NO ONE else uses my laptop. NO ONE else is listed as a user. I am the admin. I swear this is my laptop. It's not stolen. I bought it, I am the only one to EVER use it.

How do I prove to my laptop I am admin?

(Edit: while typing this, I ran Malware Bytes. Still running, 60,000 files scanned, 0 objects detected. While typing, McAfee was quiet. I stopped to check MalwareBytes and now McAfee is yelling at me even though I'm typing)

Pinkipad you have posted this same problem in another of your threads.
It was suggested in that thread that you post in the BSOD Section.

BSOD Help and Support - Windows 7 Help Forums

Once again post in the BSOD Help and Support.

Starting new threads in the wrong places will not help you get your computer problems addressed.

Before you post in the correct section do as suggested UNINSTALL McAfee, it most always causes BSODs. Remove SpyBot S&D too, it will wreck a w7 system.

My question is about administrative rights, not BSOD. While I posted before about this (with my brain injury I have no memory so I'm sorry even though this is a different question) situation, this is about trying to remove files but needing rights.

I ran Spybot since Windows, hmm, 5? Previous to being ill, I ran it for several years, so back around 2003 or so I started. I didn't know it didn't play nicely with Win 7.

McAfee comes loaded on the Win 7 laptop. If it cause issues, why does Microsoft give it to us?

Again, I just want to know how to get admin rights to remove some bad files. The BSOD was just part of the story of why I needed the rights.

(I will delete both programs when I get on the laptop tomorrow. I have MalwareBytes which assume is ok).

Microsoft give you nothing, it is the computer manufacturers add crap/bloatware because companies pay them to do it. They hope someone will buy the programs. They really don't care if some program works or not, it's about the possible income.
Malware Bytes is a really good free program., along with Super AntiSpyware.

You might try a restore point to when you had rights. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html#post4405

Ah, good to know. I knew that I'm the past.

I never have had rights as I've never had the issue as far as I can remember. But a sys restore happened today in that "situation" I can't talk about here. I had no choice as Windows couldn't load. Now I'm worried it may happen again...

:)
