My son recently purchased a new laptop pre-loaded with Win 7 from Office Depot and installed Quickbooks for his business. He is the only user on this laptop and Quickbooks. When he double clicks Quickbooks to get in he gets the message that he doesn't have admininstrator rights and yet his name is next to Administrator as well as User. To date he backs in a different way to get into Quickbooks but is there some way to fix this definitively? Is this a Quickbooks problem or a Win7 problem. The folks he usually talks to about Quickbook problems seemed to have no answer for him. Thanks in advance. I don't know his OS etc at the moment but if it's really necessary for this question I will find out. Thanks again to all of you.

by default even an "admin" has liited powers, this is what UAC is for, simplest fix would be right click Quickbooks and click "run as administrator" if this works, it can then be set up permanently from the properties menu when you right click
