I have an HP touch-smart running Windows 7 Home Premium. There are only two user accounts, my dad had the administrator account and the other one, the family would use.
The admin account has always been password protected and I always knew what it was.
I decided to remove the password on his account since he passed away a few months ago, just to make things easier in case I ever forgot that password.

So now the other day, on my personal account, an update for iTunes pops up and I try to install it, but the User Account Control says I need to put the admin password. I enter the one my dad had but it's unrecognized.
I'm completely lost as to why I'd still need to enter a password since I took it off in the first place?
Help would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I understand, if you removed it, you just need to leave the password field blank and only fill the username with your dad's user. This should let you elevate your standard account using the admin one.

As for why UAC still pops up, it's because you're still using a standard account. Elevation in those cases require administrator credentials, and Windows will always ask for them, regardless of what they actually are. It's logical, as not asking for them would defeat the purpose of being standard in the first place. The password itself is there, and it's "blank" now, so you must enter that when asked, that is, leave it empty.
