If you are using the IE 8 64 bit browser then Adobe does not have a 64 bit plugin as yet.

I am using 32 bit version, flash player installs correctly ... but when I start Iexplorer later, and I access other web page with a flash video, it could not run the video and asks me to install flash player again, like if it doesn't register correctly on the registry on the previous install ... so I reinstall flash player from adobe page several times per day.

Try going to Filehippo.com and download the latest standalone install for Adobe for IE. Stop IE while installing.

Are you running Windows 7 x64? I understand you are using the 32 bit version of IE8, but I'm curious about your OS. Also, are you running any security applications?

I am running Windows 7 64 bits, IExplorer 32 bits. I have downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player 10 from filehippo, but IExplorer continues asking me for install it each time I get into a page with a flash video.

If it's any comfort (but certainly not any help) My IE8 is doing this to me on my XP install. But IE8 on W7 is NOT.

It must be some kind of install glitch with the flash player checking it's own version number.

I'm assuming in my case that I had IE7 with flash installed, then upgraded to 8 then tried to upgrade flash again and the combination caused some wrong version setting to get stuck somewhere :/

Have you tried completely uninstalling Flash, rebooting, and trying to install it again?

I am going to try to explain the problem with one sample.

I have IExplorer with gmail in one TAB, I try to start a videoconference with a friend, it says me that I have to installa latest version of adobe flash player, I click on the link and opens a new TAB with the Adobe page for installation, I install it, I see the video on the adobe web page that means it is correctly installed. Then I go back to the TAB with gmail, I try again the video conference, and it continue saying that I have to installa latest version of adobe flash player.

I repeat this loop (install ... try ... install ... try ...) several times with no success. Then I have the idea of copying the url of the gmail TAB, and copy it in the Explorer TAB where adobe flash player was installed and adobe video works, it opens gmail, and when I try the videoconference, it works ... I then come back to the TAB where I had gmail (the first TAB), I try again the videoconference and it continues saying that I have to install latest version of adobe flash video.

Anybody knows why one installation of adobe works only for the tab where it was installed, and not for other TABs (past or future) or new IExplorer windows?

I stilll have Windows 7 RC 7100

Thanks in advance.

I am running Windows 7 32-BIT and downloaded the player from their site (v10) and it installs (or so it says on screen) but then when I insert a DVD that came with a Windows magazine I bought a month ago, it still says the installer requires flash to be installed on this system, meaning Windows the O/S, not Chrome (which I use) nor IExplorer (which I don't use, but I tried it anyway, although it is irrelevant if the content I am trying to play is off a DVD and not in a browser window off some website.

Insight?

It doesn't work. I still put the DVD in and it gives me the same message that flash hasn't been installed. I also am using Chrome as my default web browser which I know is still being formed and developed but it used to have flash support before Windows 7, so who knows.

Does Chrome support flash? Is there an independent flash player that doesn't use a web browser?

I have the same problem. Install Flash and it works. Close the IE browser. Restart IE browser and pages that use flash say Flash is not installed.

I have tried uninstalling using the Adobe uninstaller. I have tried running the Adobe uninstall exe from an elevated DOS command as Adobe suggested. I have done the above uninstall-reboot-reinstall dozens of times. There is some setting amiss in my IE setup and I have even tried resetting IE.

I use 32 bit version of IE on 64 bit version of Windows 7

Problem is this is a bug in Adobes software as it also happens on XP.

It's installer/update checker just wigs out under some circumstances. Maybe contacting abobe about it or browsing some flash forums might have a better answer. I never did get it fixed on my XP machine but after installing 7 on it it went away.
