In the past I have accepted Adobe requests to update the Flash Player with no problem. Now I get a security notice that states my "current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". I am no sure is this message is coming from Windows or Norton. Anyone else run into this?

DPitts, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

This is most likely Norton blocking the download. You need to go into Norton & allow this Adobe update.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Another alternative would be to uninstall adobe flash and re-install it and see what happens
Make sure you go to the adobe site for the download,
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Cheers.

Flash Player download blocked

I've seen this happen when IE settings for Active X controls are screwed up. Doubtless ThrashZone will be able to help you reset those to default settings. Personally I don't use IE and it's disabled.

Other than that you should do as suggested and run the flash player removal tool then install whatver verion(s) you need using the direct download links. In other words download the file and save it. Close your browser then run the installer.

Direct download links for flash player installers:

That's the message from IE when the security settings forbids downloads for that security zone. I've set the Internet Zone to High which basically blocks all "dangerous" things. Then I add sites/domains in the Trusted Zone to allow scripts, downloads etc. Example for Flash and other Adobe products:
*.adobe.com

If you haven't changed any security settings then it's probably caused by another program.

Have you tried to disable Norton first & then attempt the reinstalling Adobe Flash Player from the Adobe website.

If that works then just re-enable Norton again.

You must not be using the default settings then :/
Any real reason for not
On the bottom of the Internet options/ security section use Reset all zones to default.
