PSI just complained that my Flash wasn't secure, but the version that it detects is the one previous to the one installed, according to Program And Features. The one shown installed is the current one.

I had this problem when I first installed PSI, but found that when I installed Flash in a video player that I oft use, that is not a browser, that it declared that all was well.

At this point, I have no idea of where that older version might be installed, nor why PSI didn't complain about it before? How can one determine where all installation point might be?

Nothing very mysterious, I just found that my statement that all of the browsers were using the current version was wrong. I updated the one out of date and the problem was gone.

Adobe Flash installs didn't use to remove old versions unless you used the site install. Old versions would hang around. I thought that was changed through the update though. Maybe not. Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall old versions. The current version is 11.1.102.62. (Or there abouts.)

I went directly to the Flash download site, and the reason that it didn't install in one browser, is because there is one file for IE, and another for other browsers. The current version is 11.2.202.228. The version that you gave is the once that PSI squawked about.

I forgot that I disabled the update service while I was running some benchmarks a while back. Thanks for the reminder to update.

Don't feel bad, because even PSI thought the current version was 11.1.102.63, so it was a bit behind also.

Just when I thought all of this was just a flash in the pan, another problem arose. A video player that I use to watch streaming Flash squawked that version of Flash would no longer work with it, and wanted to update, even though I had already updated in my browsers, which includes IE, which I assumed is where the player gets it's Flash from. The webpage that it took me to was exactly the same one that the browsers used, and since I already had installed both the IE and non-IE versions, I couldn't see the purpose of reinstalling it.

Therefore, after checking and finding that the player had an updated version available, I installed it and it no longer squawked about the Flash version. However now when I play an online stream, there is a thick (1") bright green semi-translucent band across the top of the viewing screen. I'm trying to figure whether this problem is with the player itself, or with how it is interfacing with Flash...how should I proceed?

As it turns out, the problem is not just when using my video player, because I just viewed a video clip that someone had attached to their post here, and the green band appeared just the same as with the video player. It seems strange that it doesn't appear when viewing a video on Hulu, because that is Flash also. In any case, it appears that the issue arose when I updated to the latest Flash update. Since I have redownloaded and installed it several times, it would seem that the problem is with the update itself, but if that is true, it should have effected others besides me, yet no one has said a word about it. Still looking for answers.

Another problem solved. I hadn't updated my Nvidia driver in quite a while, and apparently the new Flash wasn't compatible with what I had.

now i've got a problem after updated to the latest versions..flash plugins always missing after i restarted the machine, in ff browser and avast. Any sugestion to solve my prob?
