Adobe Premiere Audio Problem

Okay, so I have this problem with my editing, I've never had this problem before so it makes me wonder.
The audio file I import into premiere makes this high screeching/squealing sound/noise and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this audio file by the way, lemme explain why.
I can play this audio file in VLC player just fine, no problems, same goes for windows media player. So an issue with the lack of 'something' in the program? Codec related? help.

**UPDATE**

Not only does the audio file work fine when played in media players like VLC etc etc. But also I decided to use another video editing software instead just because, I used 'Cyberlink PowerDirector' and it seemed to of imported & played just fine. SO, I can only assume from what I've tried that there is something I need to do in Adobe Premiere to fix this?

If anybody knows what this is please post an answer or solution, it'll be much appreciated.

hi, i will guarantee you that it will be nothing related to the validity of my license.
If it helps specify the problem further, the problem only just came up when I started using a different codec, x264.

To paint the picture more vividly, when I import the audio in premiere the waveform from beginning to end is chaotic and is showing high frequency spikes consistently.
May I remind you that when I'm not in premiere and just playing the file raw with VLC player or WMP, it's fine. No problems at all.

Really? Nobody knows why this problem occurs, I have to say that I'm disappointed.
Frankly I'm surprised that some expert hasn't posted a solution already, especially when despite the fact that this problem actually exists even if it is pretty stupid.

It's not hard to understand what I said there, in simple terms the file I wanted to export is an avi file.
with a stereo output [where the problem resides] with 192kbps, 48khz. Nothing hard to comprehend there.
