Adobe Reader won't update

Adobe Reader will not update on my Win7 OS. It says:

Updates have been disabled by your system policy.

Error: 1007

What does this mean? How can I fix it so that it WILL update again on its own?

That sounds like your ability to install software was controlled by group policy. Is this a work computer on a domain? if so, you should contact your IT staff. If it isn't, then uninstall Adobe Reader, and reinstall the latest version.

This is my personal computer and I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe and still get the same issue. A user on the Adobe forums was saying that it might be something in the registry keys or something to that extent.

Forget adobe reader, it is known to be buggy
Try Foxit reader instead: Foxit Software - Foxit Reader for Windows

I know some people disagree, but using a registry cleaner has worked wonders for me in situations like this. Adobe's uninstallers are usually crap, so I always run CCleaner afterwards to remove leftover registry keys that cause issues with a reinstall.

Using the official Adobe uninstaller usually works.

In the alternative you could try the free Revo uninstaller in advanced mode.

As yowanvista said, Foxit is a great alternative. Just make sure you check each dialog box during the installation process or you'll wind up getting bloatware from Google and eBay. You could also give Nitro a try.
