I have FireFox 30. Not so crazy about that...
I Really like the Older FF Browsers, I believe they were More Stable.
I have adobe shockwave, and On Occassions (5-10 X's/Week) the Browser
Freezes and the page will not finish. I then get a Windows Prompt:
Shockwave has failed to load or is still busy. (Gee, I'm NOT sorry to read this)

I have done the following:
Re-Installed SW
Lengthened the Startup timing for SW to 30 secs, then to a minute.
Ran software conflicts for FF and SW.

FireFox's Web Page Solution::huh:
Start in Safe Mode and then through attrition (one by one) gradually
restart each "Add On". I hopes of finding the conflict (If applicable) and
Or if reproduced?!

Needless to say, I do Not have 2-3 hours to go thru a Rule Out procedure
for a program that may or may not have Repeatable Conflicts due a Single
Add-On or Plug In! That is Absurd!

So My Question (FINALLY!) Does anyone have another solution or is it
NOW the time to either:
1) Take a Shotgun to FireFox:D
2) Chrome Baby! Where have you been all my life?

What do you use Shockwave for?

If you don't know, then uninstall it.

Applications
Although Shockwave was designed for making a wide variety of online movies and animations, its actual use has become concentrated in the area of game development. It is often used in online applications which require a very rich graphical environment. Online Learning tools which simulate real-world physics or involve significant graphing, charting, or calculation sometimes use Shockwave.

That's what I was trying to get an answer to - is it flash or shockwave?

Find a YouTube video that causes the issue and post a link to it here.

Why YouTube? Because there's almost zero chance that YouTube video has a fake Shockwave install attached to it.
If you can't find a YouTube video that causes the problem, then there might be malware on your system... I don't know that for certain.

Make sure that you're doing a clean install of Adobe products
Uninstall both Flash and Shockwave through Control Panel -> Programs and features.

Then use the Adobe standalone uninstallers.

Read and follow the instructions, there are manual steps that you have to take for a clean uninstall.
Save the instruction to a text file - you have to close all browsers during the uninstall process.

Flash: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
:note: Pay attention to Step 3.3, there are 4 locations that you have to clean up manually
  • C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
  • %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
  • %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player

Shockwave: Download Shockwave stand-alone installer, uninstaller
:note: Download the full uninstaller, not the slim

Restart your machine and install only the most current Flash Player.
Test the same YouTube video you posted.

If it asks you to update Shockwave - post a screen shot, but do not update it there.

Instead go to the official Shockwave download and install from there.

OK, Thanks! It is Shockwave, My Bad. It NEVER happens with YouTube. Occurs with mostly News oriented web pages that have videos (embedded?) loaded on them. They are: Daily Mirror, KCBS, KTLA, Yahoo, & USA Today. These are not exclusive (Members/subscriber). Nor am I logged on. The Prompt appears indiscriminate and varies. But does happen at least 1-2 X's each day sometimes more. I have tried to keep my cache emptied and do have Glary Utilities to clean up these files once a week. I have tried to not do this to see if THAT was the cause and there was no change.
Thanks SLYBT:haha:

Thanks starbucks,

Please provide an exact example for members to test - there are lots of videos on those sites.

The issue might be with the player on those sites, I have a hard time getting NBC.com TV shows to play. Usually a few refreshes after the page is fully loaded works, but not all of the time. I think it has more to do with my GPU and the AMD plugin in my case. The problem only manifests itself on NBC - go figure.

We have different GPUs (AMD vs Intel) so I won't be able to accurately test anything. I can look at the video, the page source and determine some basic things about the site player. See if there's anything in common.

Please follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine. This will tell members more about your hardware, drivers, and other software that might have bearing on the issue.
