Hi,

Ive been struggeling with the installation of Adobe shockwave. I go to Adobe's site, click on shockwave and then...nothing happens. No errors, just nothing.
Ive tried everything: deinstallation of the complete Adobe suit, followed by CClean for reg. leftovers. New installation = nok. Installed a previous image of windows 7 (completly clean) = nok:confused:
Im out of options here. Can somebody help

CCleaner wouldn't do anything for this type of situation.

Are you using IE8, Mozilla, Chrome, Safari?

If using IE8, make sure you click on that little yellow bar beneath the address bar after you click download so you can run the add-on or active-x. Mozilla same thing.

Chrome will do it automatically.

Let me know.

Thanks for the reply! Im using IE8 and the weird thing is the yellow bar doesn't appear. As i want to dl a file, the yellow bar does appear sometimes. I also checked the security settings of IE8 and these are at normal.
So, when im on the Adobe's site, i click on shockwave. Then im redirected to a new screen where i have to click on the yellow <agree and install> button. Then im redirected to the actual installation site with the text: <Shockwave player will be installed> and nothing happens. No error message, no yellow bar, just nothing.

You might have to use the Adobe Shockwave uninstaller before you can try to reinstall. Shockwave (and Flash Player) tend to hook themselves deep inside the registry and if all traces aren't removed, it's pretty much impossible to reinstall. Here's the link to the Adobe Shockwave uninstaller:

Downloading Shockwave stand-alone installer and Shockwave uninstaller

(If you ever have to uninstall Flash Player, there's a separate Adobe uninstaller for that as well.)

Hi,

This is what ive done so far: Ive tried the sw.uninstall.exe. It did uninstall but a new install gave the same problems.
I started in safe mode, again sw.uninstall.exe, restarted and installed again= same problems. I also ran the flashplayer uninstall.
Than i dl the free prog: Absolute uninstall. Ive run it and uninstalled the whole adobe suit, and other progs i didn't use anymore. Restarted my PC tried again to install SW = same problem.

*Edit*: Ive just installed reader again = no problem. After that i installed Adobe flashplayer = no problem. After that i installed Adobe Air = No problem. But shockwave...still the same problem: nothing happens, no yellow bar, no error message, just nothing.

Go into your IE security settings and try lowering the bar. Maybe even go to the Advanced tab under Internet Options and reset to defaults.

Did both options allready but did it again but the same problem occurs. If there would be a error message than it would be fine, but totally nothing happens.
When installing Adobe Air, the yellor bar appears and asks me if i want to download the file. So the yellow bar works except not with Shockwave...
Un complete de isntallation of IE8, would that help?

Nope i didn't. Why not? Because i didn't red your message good enough:o. So i downloaded the full install and shockwave works!
My huge excuse for the fact i didn't read your message good enough. I thought the link was the uninstaller version..:o

But after all im a happy person! Thanks for your patients!

Adobe seems to go out of their way to prevent you from downloading the full installer and make you do the web install, I'm not sure why though? I had to do a lot of searching to find that link. Anyway I'm glad it worked for you. I'd bet it was the Creative Suite that messed things up. It's near impossible to get rid of the left over reg entries after un-installing it too. Adobe =
