Advance Notification for October 14th 2014 Security Bulletin Release

Today, we provide advance notification for the release of nine Security Bulletins. Three of these updates are rated Critical, five are rated as Important, and one is rated Moderate in severity. These updates are for Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, .NET Framework, and ASP.NET.

As per our usual process, we’ve scheduled the Security Bulletin release for the second Tuesday of the month, October 14, 2014, at approximately 10 a.m. PDT. Revisit this blog then for analysis of the relative impact, as well as deployment guidance, together with a brief video overview of the month’s updates. Until then, please review the ANS summary page for more information to help you prepare for Security Bulletin testing and deployment.

As a reminder, we are now using a new format for our Security Bulletin Webcast, scheduled on Wednesday, October 15, at 11 a.m. PDT. You are no longer required to register, download the Live Meeting client, or dial in to a separate number. A link to the Webcast will be included in our blog next Tuesday.

Got 16 of them...patched nearly all of them apart the update kb2994023 as i'm waiting the support page to display the bulletin.

EDIT:
forgot to mention that one of those seven displayed security updates have make my system rebooting at logon, twice to properly install. I haven't check trace which one have made this.

Only one that failed for me was KB2952664.
"This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."

According to the file names they probably are for the 32-bit version of Win7, this is just the first on the list:

I wonder what constitutes a service pack. 20 some updates? evidently not. Let's see ............ Oh, MS is not going to do any more service packs for Win 7, I forgot.

Even a hundred of spiders haven't enough of legs to count all of those updates, hotfixes...

Unlucky that January 2015 is end of support of them too and this before SP2 ?....

If it has failed but not offered anymore is likely you have it on your system.

But if you read the kb2952664 closer at the section "File information" => "For all supported x64-based versions of Windows 7", copy-paste onto the search bar some of the files there, of your start menu to display the versions of the files by high lightning them that should be in system32 folder.

Could also be your AV blocking that update, so.

kb2952664 failed for me too, so I rechecked Win Update and it installed.

If one failed to install with automated Windows Update, then can try the stand-alone installer at Microsoft Catalog Update: 2952664 and this will also dispatch the latest version of the files into the article ID mentioned. You might be prompt to install Microsoft ActiveX in order to get that page displayed.

I had 17 updates this morning, 130mb all up. 4 failed to install & they were KB2972100, KB2952664, KB2949927 & KB3000061 reran Check for Updates & these installed successfully. Required 3 restarts on first install & 1 for the install of the earlier failed ones.

I'd wished that that Police Officer that did unvalided my driving license wasn't playing "Russian Ruble Roulette" and would have consider it as optional update....Well, i'm moped since but still "per se cursed"!!!

I'm still waiting on the feature that Linux has had for awhile where it installs updates at the OS installs. Wish windows did that.

16 updates, 2 restarts. Then (probably no coincidence) there was a new Firefox, Thunderbird, Java (some banking needs it here) & Flash. All well.
