Recently a game running on Steam, crashed the pc to the desktop. I wanted to create a dumpfile to try and determine the reason for the crash. I am an administrator and seem to have permissions to change system settings. However, when I attempt to create a dumpfile via Control Panel>System and Security> System>Advanced System Settings>StartUp and Recovery> Settings --, the system will allow me to enter values in the various fields eg "Write debugging information" however any changes I make are not saved and the values revert to the original values.
I only wanted to create a small dump file and there is large capacity on the primary drive, so it doesn't seem to be a space issue.
I am not sure if particular permissions are required or some other software maybe controlling the "Startup and Recovery" processes ?
I don't seem to have this problem on another machine running Win 7 - Home Premium 64 bit? Any clues would be greatly appreciated!
