advice on SSD

hey guys, i have a question, i am thinking of getting a SSD drive for my pc, and i read that my mobo does not support AHCI



so basicly what i am asking, would i get better OS performance and game performance with SSD even if my mobo doesnt support AHCI ?

all intel on this would be appriciated.

but AHCI is needed for TRIM right ?, what is this trim, never got to understand it right...

TRIM basically clears data blocks that are no longer in use. Have a read here: Trim available in IDE and AHCI?
What SSD are you looking at buying?

edit: apparantly, TRIM will work in IDE mode...

TRIM is non-specific to either SATA controller mode, and will work equally well in both IDE and AHCI-mode. Benchmark Reviews will soon publish a detailed report that illustrates the recovery levels for each SSD controller tested here.
