Hello fine people

These are the main tech specs of a computer i am purchasing.
What I am looking for is some input regarding any possible weakness's or issues i might be looking at with this config. I will be using this system almost exclusively for gaming and other media entertainment ( movies, music). Any advice i can get would be greatly appreciated.

Intel Core i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)

ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB GDDR5

8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz

1TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64Bit

Thats a handsome system and should serve you well. Only possible things I can draw your attention to are:

1) 5670 is not the greatest card for gaming out there. Check out this review.

Review - ATI Radeon HD 5670 Review | bit-tech.net

2) Home premium has a memory cap of 12 gb, so in case you want to expand to more than that in the future theres an issue.

It looks pretty solid from the info you have provided.

But like Bill2 already said, the GPU will be a bit weak, especially considering your main focus is gaming.

I would look to upgrade that to a more powerful graphics card suitable for the resolution you wish to game at.
If not for gaming, it would be just fine as is.

But sadly, this may bring up another possible weakness. The Power Supply.
Often times, a Pre-assembled PC comes with a Power Supply that just adequete for the hardware it ships with.

If this is a pre-built system, You'll need to check into the power supply it comes with.
The most important factor to look at, in regards to a more powerful GPU, will be the amperage on the 12V rail.

If it ends up the power Supply must be replaced to support any larger GPU, you may be just as well off to buy everything out right, and build yourself.
Considering the price of the PC, a new PSU, and larger GPU.

I don't see a PSU or a Motherboard there... I also don't see a Brand or Model RAM

All I can say is... make sure the combo (Mobp/CPU/RAM) matches and there are no known conflicts there... more so Ram/Mobo than anything else.

I'd build a system properly configured for what you want - that system is obviously unbalanced, why would you put that processor with such a poor GPU?

Yes like Asta said...check the QVL for your motherboard manuf and see what Ram is useable on your board whatever that is.

I'd also upgrade your vid card to something like a NV 560/570 or ATI 68/69 series card. Also if you do so make sure you have a Quality PSU with the grunt to run the card (maybe 2 if u plan on a dual card setup in the future).:)

I guess you mean 2 cards?
Looks as if I misread as 2 Power Supplys.

If this system is a pre-built .. MOBO,RAM etc should already be compatable with each other.
The only thing that would need attention for gaming is the GPU, and possibly power supply.

Unless Im misunderstanding and these are parts to for a self build ...

I have the HD5670 and it's great for multimedia. For gaming you'll want something stronger.
The i7 2600 has 4 cores, 8 threads and is very powerful. Good choice for multimedia.
You may want to consider a drive with a 32 or 64mb cache.

Good Luck.

Lol thats a point, I assumed it was a self built but if its prebuilt by someone like Dell/Acer etc then ya ram mobo will work..it all will but the cards still ordinary and PSU may be a problem depending on what it is, against what he might need.

I'm really sorry bout that, as i am being told so politely by my GF {sarcasm}, I neglected to include that info when i started this thread.
This is a system i am getting from Dell. This will be my 4th Dell machine in the last 9yrs. I have had almost zero problems with there equipment and when i have had issues, their customer service and tech support has been excellent.
