Hi guys,
Under Windows Vista, if you already noticed, aero interface is automatically disable while playaing games. Under Windows 7, it's not really the case... aero interface still stand up while we playing games and that's make me lag a lot when my background change. I got two screens, so my graphic card must handle two things that take too much memory.
On my laptop, it's now impossible to play counter-strike source anymore, aero interface still take too much memory.

Can you tell my is there's a funtion under 7 that's allow us to automatically disable the Aero interface?

Thanks!

yes - right-click on the program shortcut >> compatability tab >> disable visual themes and disable desktop compostion.

aero will be disabled as soon as you start the game, and will be restored when you finish.

This is exactly the thing I want to avoid. I would like to make this all automatically without any manipulations except the one we need to manipulate the change.

I'm a steam user, I use it all day long, so I can't imagine I wouldn't enjoy the Aero interface all this time.

Are you sure it's the only solution?

sorry, but i think i misunderstood your original post.

i thought you wanted to turn off aero only for certain games.

do you want to turn it off completely? if so, right-click on desktop >> personalize >> choose windows 7 basic.

MM was right.

You will need to right-click the shortcut(lnk), or the main executable for the game and choose properties -> comaptability. From there just click 'Disable desktop composition'.

It only disables Aero while that particular game is running
