Aero Peek + Thumbnail Preview Eyefinity Issues

Aero peek and thumbnail preview work on my computer when not using an Eyefinity display group, but when I enable the group to use one large screen these two features do not work. I am trying to figure out how to get them to work. So far I have done the following:

-Checked that it is enabled in control panel
-Windows Auto Repair
-"SFC /SCANNOW" cmd
-Cleaned disk

I am not reporting any errors in device manager. My drivers on my graphics card are up to date as well. It is a brand new 7950, with the rest of the computer being less than a month old, so hopefully it isn't that. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Update: It seems that Windows Desktop Manager crashes daily now. Maybe related or a new problem, no idea.

I have the same problem. Not really sure how to resolve it. It's annoying for sure.

Welcome to Seven Forums kellenberg2, and hello Ristogod. This is apparently a known issue, and with Nvidia Surround as well. Two things that seem to work (sometimes).

Change the taskbar grouping to Never combine

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/496-taskbar-button-grouping-enable-disable.html

OR

Use a vertical taskbar

Right click taskbar> Unlock> Drag the taskbar to the far left or far right> Lock taskbar again

I had the same problem and just tried setting mine to "Never Combine" as you suggested but decided I didn't like it that way. When I changed it back to "Always Combine, Hide Labels" the thumbnail preview remained. Certainly worth a try.

Hi Kellenberg

Saw you over at Tom's - there was a different post there that mentioned VRAM swapping out to system ram, when that happens Aero ceases so DWM doesn't consume all of the system ram. It mentioned a 1Gb threshold - sorry, but I closed the window and lost the reference. search kw=aero eyefinity thumbnail.

Anyway, can you increase the VRAM in BIOS / NVIDIA? You might still reach "the" threshold what ever that may be defined. Other than that I won't be much help.

Good luck.
