Aero Snap problem

I am having a minor trouble with the Aero snap feature. When using certain applications (Word, Skype) I am able to maximize the window by dragging the window to the top - but I am not able to restore it by dragging it down, it stays put. I have to hit the restore button on the top right corner everytime I have to restore the window to the original size or if I want to snap it to one of the sides.

Anyone has faced this before ?

Just tried this a few times with Word and it works fine, but i'm using 2010, can't confirm if 2007 has an issue.

its not just with word, even a few other apps (like skype) have this issue. is there a control panel setting that i can use to turn off and then turn on the aero snap feature ?

Ezhilk, I tried this with Skype and can confirm what you said. Here's a tutorial to show how to turn Aero Snap on or off. Tried that, didn't fix the issue.

It seems it is rather a Skype than Windows issue.

Thanks Kari. :) You are right, turning off the snap doesn't help at all.

And this problem happened only after I did a clean installation of 7. Previously, I upgraded from Vista and the snap feature worked flawlessly. I thought a clean install will improve the performance.

an update for MS Office fixed the issue with Word, although the problem with skype remains. So I guess its an application issue rather than the OS, as you mentioned.

i have the same problem but it's with all my windows, including explorer, firefox...

is there something i can do? im using win 7 ultimate 32bit on a dual screen display. what i do not understand is that when i switch to my projector (single screen) it works fine. so it may have something to do with my dual screen setup.

i solved my problem. if you are using ultramon, go to options -> general tab and uncheck "enable moving of maximized windows using the mouse" this will allow windows 7 to deal with this feature and ultramon and win7 won't interfere with each other.

as for skype, i thought it was not working but to solve that just go to tools-> options -> general settings and change the visual style of the window to classic windows

interestingly enough though it is not working with MS word.

Hope this helps
