Firstly I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. Secondly some background information, my Sony Vaio laptop awhile back had it's display burn out so that nothing was appearing on the screen. I fixed this by connecting an external display to it and I just used it like that and everything was working up until recently. My laptop was in desperate need of a format so I did just that, I put a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. After the format was complete I found that I was unable to connect my external display thus I am unable to use my laptop. The only way that I can see what is going on my screen is shining a flashlight into it and I already tried everything to fix it, I installed all the necessary drivers, I checked if it was the display that was not working, I clicked detect on the display settings, I clicked Win +P, Win + X, Fn +F7, etc. No matter what I try I cannot get it to connect. I am completely stumped. So please if you have any information that could help with my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

If you can possibly see anything on the laptop screen you could try pressing the Windows Key & the P Key at the same time & select the external monitor, which on my computer is the right hand one. If you cant see anything on the laptop screen you can use the left & right Arrow keys in the above method to make the selection.
It's possible your access to the external monitor is switched off so using this method may switch it on.

I have already tried Windows Key + P. Nothing appears on my screen, absolutely no option to switch to another display. and I have connected the external display to another computer so it is completely working.

that sounds like a driver issue but you said you already installed the drivers can you list what model laptop and what driver file name you installed for the video? did you change or reset the BIOS in any way when you reformatted the machine? I take it you did not factory reset the machine and its a fresh install of the OS?

I did a fresh install of the OS and I did not change or reset the BIOS. I wouldn't know the first thing about resetting it. My laptop model is a Sony Vaio VPCEA3CFX. Also I backed up my drivers so it was the exact drivers that it had before the format , so the file name is the exact name of the piece of hardware.
