hi - I have installed Windows 7 32bit on our church desktop but when I try to get on the internet it tells me "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver."

I took the side off the hard drive and saw the name Maxtor - I used the church's new laptop and googled Maxtor (which is now Seagate) and found I could download a new driver but since I can't access the internet on the desktop and don't need it on the laptop any help you can give me as to how I get the new driver installed on the desktop would be appreciated.

I'm sorry but nothing looks like anything in the system specs link pictures and nothing appears to have names on them - I've looked around a couple of times but nothing is making any sense - maybe I need to take it to an expert? I mean an outside physical expert as opposed to an online expert like you :)

ok I tried that but it still means nothing to me....however, I googled the Maxtor DiamondMax 16 and found an online manual - it's a 60Gb Maxtor DiamondMax 16 Model 4R060J0 - it doesn't give basic easy to read specs though

WE DO NOT NEED THE HDD SPECS.

We need the PC specs.

Like make & model No. (Dell, HP/Compaq, Fujitsu)

Like Motherboard (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte)

then I assume that would be the following:

Maxtor DiamondMax 16 60GB - ASRock is the only name that is in large print on what I assume is the motherboard.

If not then I will have to take it somewhere because I don't know anything else about it - did I mention that I'm no computer techy?

I appreciate you trying to help me but it may be useless at my end!

device manager

Hi Emmanual,
in your original post you stated the error as
Device driver did not install >>properly<<.

please do this, so that we can see the network device, a USB presummably.
ControlPanel>deviceManager>networkdevices.
you should be seeing something like the black downward icon, as in my screenshot no 3,
or MORE likely a yellow warning triangle.
click on that then RIGHTCLICK>properties>updatedriver.
and hopefully it will update correctly.

if not please screenshot it
with devicedriver screen open select snipping tool, screen will greyout
move curser to device driver a large arrow will appear drag it to just above network adapters and drag it down past the error you want to copy select SaveAs>name it >save to pictures. attach to next reply
