After most recent windows 7 updates, computer requires a login passwor

After the last updates, my computer required a login password. I tried blank and then ran Live CD to find the password. It could not. I finally had to reformat and reinstall.

It worked great the rest of day. Then it updated and all of a sudden, the same problem is back.

Any Help????

Hi i would go back to a restore point before thr updates. and see if it requires a password if not then i would set a password then do the updates again then if your password works to log in then can change it back to not using a password.

What updates are you talking about?

What media did you use to format and reinstall Windows 7 and where did you get it from?

Did you have to reactivate Windows 7 again?

Oscar 1, if I could log in, and do a system restore, I wouldn't have the problem. I can't log in either in safe mode or normal mode. That is the problem.

Layback Bear, haven't you ever done a reformat before??? I'm talking about Windows updates of course. With HP, you hit F11 as you restart and you go back to original. No, you do not need to reactivate because Windows knows that it is the legit OS.

Is there is no help on this forum??

restart laptop press F8 and got to repair my computer or something along those lines should have an option to go to a restore point.

Oscar, I'm trying to tell you that it would not start in safe mode (F8 gets you into safe mode).
I CAN'T GET INTO SAFE MODE OR NORMAL MODE BECAUSE IT STOPS AND REQUIRES A PASSWORD. I DIDN'T SET UP A PASSWORD. IT IS EITHER AN INFECTION OR A BAD WINDOWS UPDATE.

The repair choice you are talking about is for Dell computers. It is a good thing this computer isn't a Dell and is an HP because HP computers will restore to factory with F11 (without going into safe mode).

It may just be a coincidence that it happened twice right after Tuesday's Windows Patch (11 downloads). But I generally do not believe in coincidences.

I am reformatting it once again. This time, I will not put the data back on. I will update and see if it does it again with just updating and no other use of the computer. It is happens again, then I will know that it is a bad windows update.

Bryanta I'm fully aware what a format is and I also know what Windows install is.
You just used the HP recovery back to the way your computer came. At least that is what I gather from your post.

Oscar1, yes, it is true a repair disk would make the process easier. I am more concerned with finding the cause.

I have a test set up and will discover if it is a bad windows update or infected data or an infected website that I visit. It would only be a sports related website if it is that. I have not seen this kind of prank infection - if that is what it is, in many years.
