Hi
after downloading Norton 360 Version 5 , and doing all the updates , it showed me a message that says do you will need to do some work on your own by going to this page and then download FixTDSS.exe

After running FixTDSS.exe and restarting the system, the Windows won't work so I tried to fix that by reparing but no success, so if I do the restore point it will delete my norton 360 and I will have the same problems all over again.

I am using right now my same computer but with live Ubuntu.

please advice

Hello Faf90,

* Are you using the free trial or paid version of Norton?

* Did you have a preinstalled Anti Virus program on your computer when it was new?
If so how was it removed?

*What other Anti Virus programs have you used prior to this Norton install?

* Have you sought any advice from Norton Support or Norton Community?

I would imagine they may have met a similar problem before & I suspect should be able to advise you.

  • I am using the free trial
  • yes I was using Kaspersky but after showing Backdoor trojan with repeating the process so many times I decided to use the Norton. and I did remove it but still getting the Kaspersky folder in my computer I don't know if I uninstall it correctly or no but I think it not completly gone.
  • and for the norton community I wrote on their forum and what they just said go to specialist forums who can help you and here is the link after running FixTDSS.exe Windows 7 64bit wont sta... - Norton Community

I would suggest part of your problem is associated with Kaspersky remnants conflicting with the Norton install.

Later > It may be a good idea to use the appropriate uninstall tool for both Norton & Kaspersky & use instead Microsoft Security Essentials for protection.

I will see if your thread can be moved to the Security Section of our Forum & thus attract people there to help you.
