AHA-2940U is strange with Toshiba SD-M1711 in Window

Attempting to install VISTA-32 driver (from Adaptec: http://download.adaptec.com/scsi/windows/aic78xx_aic78u2_vista_x86_v605456.exe) in Windows 7 for use since I still had a workable SCSI DVD-ROM: Toshiba SD-M1711. Something went strange after that... The LED of my SD-M1711 often lightened and it could not read CD/DVD dics anymore! While restoring my system back to Windows XP by Norton Ghost, everything was fine. Cannot say, does Windows 7 give up supporting to AHA-2940U? BTW I tried the driver embedded in Windows 7: Adaptec AIC-7870 PCI SCSI Controller (Emulated), my SD-M177 worked strange too. It is appreciated to get troubleshooting form you. Thanks very much

This was a new one for me, so I Googled AHA-2940U, and found a good deal of information. Attempt that and see if there is anything out there that will help. Please let us know if you find a solution; this would help us help others who might have the same problem. Thank you.

Thanks Lee~ I'll do my best to find out the solution and it is still ongoing. But so far I get no more information regarding my trouble from Google. Have you any idea to share with me?

P.S. My operating system is 7 Ultimate x86, not x64.

Something is investigated in my Windows 7. There is no any device named "SCSI/RAID Host Controller" in Windows Device Manager. On the other hand this device is presented in Windows XP. I was wondering if this is the key to my trouble so far... Besides, ASUS P4C800-E is the mainboard I used for reference.
