AHCI configuration

Anyone who knows how to configure AHCI in bios? I'm confused I must say. I want to have eSATA with a sata slot from my motherboard.

How to Enable AHCI in Windows After OS Install

It depends on your Bios, but there is probably a choice to Enable the ports and then a choice for the mode (EIDE or AHCI). The default is probably EIDE and if you loaded Win 7 in this mode then you need to follow the tutorial that Bare Foot Kit referenced. If loaded using EIDE then AHCI is disabled and the tutorial is how you enable the driver.

Many motherboards have two controllers and they are usually located in different places in the bios. I currently have my primary (4 port) controller set to IDE and my secondary (2 port) JMicron set up as AHCI and have my eSATA drive on it.

It did take me adding the JMicron driver and it shows up under Stroage Controllers in Device Manager.
