I recently bought 2 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSDs, a new CPU heatsink, and 2 new video cards (5850s). I was running my Windows 7 64 on 2 WD velociraptors in RAID0 prior to rebuilding my system. I never had any issue with Windows installation. I tried setting up my system to where my SSDs would be in RAID0 and so would my Velociraptors and when I go to install Windows it prompts me with a message telling me that it cannot find DVD Drive drivers. So I tried installing in AHCI mode but when I go to install, Windows tells me it cannot create a new partition or locate an existing partion. :shock: I'm able to install in IDE mode in my BIOS, but that's it. Any suggestions?

You'd need to set the SATA controller to RAID to use that. Otherwise, use only one HD set to AHCI mode.

I have already set the sata mode to raid to put my hard drives in raid0 but it always prompts with cannot find DVD Drive Drivers

You might need to provide RAID drivers if it lets you to the drive selection menu.

But it sounds like you are getting the error earlier, and that error is often because the installer or burn is bad. Have you used it before to successfully install? Is it clean? Can you burn another at 4x using ImgBurn?

If not, google the exact error text to troubleshoot error.

I never had to provide RAID drivers for my previous setup. And it is not asking me for RAID drivers, just DVD Drive drivers. I reset my CMOS to no avail. Im using the original disc provided by microsoft but it is in good condition. When i set my mobo up for AHCI it just tells me that it cannot create a new partition nor can it find an old one. Even though i formatted the drives

How about if you try install to only one HD after breaking the RAID? Win7 is somewhat allergic to RAID.

I've managed to install windows but only in IDE mode. Anything else won't comply, but i'd like to get it to work in RAID so i can put my SSDs in RAID0 and get some real performance out of them.

I am not aware of any benefit from RAID other than making a much larger System drive, but that is negated by the loss of both HD's if one fails.

I would want the second HD for storage and backup imaging which is built into Win7.

Others hopefully will have more suggestions.

I assume the DVD drive is viewable in the BIOS while your drives are set in RAID?
Is your DVD SATA too?

Yes, my DVD drives are both strictly SATA drives. . . But i would assume that if i put them in AHCI mode windows would have no problem detecting that the drivers are already preloaded. . . i've messed around with it a little more, but still no luck
