Welcome to Seven Forums kneedeep73. Akamai is a content delivery network that many legit sites use. Including Microsoft. The address was likely a https://a248.e. address, and the https://a248.e. part means that it is images delivered from a secure page, delivered with a certificate with an akamai.net domain. See if you can capture the entire address and post it here. It wouldn't hurt to d/l and scan with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, but even Windows update uses akamai.net.

You can try flushing your dns. Open an advanced command prompt:

Start> In search box type cmd> Right click on cmd.exe in results above and choose Run as administrator

When command prompt opens type

ipconfig /release

Enter

ipconfig /renew

Enter

ipconfig /flushdns

Enter
