Hi all

Whenever I try to login to a particular provider's website to pay bills (Firefox 15.0), I get this alert:

"You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information. Information that you see or enter on this page could easily be read by a third party.

Alert me whenever I’m about to view an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information".

Is this from Windows (7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1)?

Anyone know if Windows can be configured to make the situation secure?

AFTERTHOUGHT: This alert does not appear with IE version 9.0.8112.16421 (!?!?)

Cheers

It means the page is from an encrypted source however some objects on that page (usually images or adds) are linked to a separate location which which is not encrypted, it's probably safe if a trusted retailer but the only way to be sure is go through the code to find which objects are external to the page, and even then it may not be possible to determine without having server-side access.

The part of the page you put the info in should be returned to the server via an encrypted session. Does the site have
VeriSign or similar acreditation? if so then you should be good.

Thanks Sub-Styler

This seems good. Yes, the page states it is protected by VeriSign so I'll take it that the info entered is secured. (Well, as secured as anything can be nowadays).
