New Lenovo laptop. Running any setup takes at least 10 minutes longer than other laptop running XP, or my desktop that runs Windows 7. If I run the setup.exe's as administrator they install normally, but the same trick doesn't work for CD installs. After anything is installed the system hangs on the next shutdown. A good example is that Adobe reader took 30 minutes to install (not 'run as administrator').. Please tell me there is some global security setting that I can apply.. I would rather not have to hunt down a non-lenovo configured install media and start all over.

Hello,

Has this been the case out of the box, or did it develop some time later?

What anti-virus are you using?

This way out of the box. No ani-V installed yet.. I tried uninstalling all the lenovo branded software but that hasn't helped. The user account claims to be an administrator. My windows 7 pro retain install on my desktop works perfectly with the same software installs...

Also, the USB ports aren't working correctly.. even when booted to knoppix.. I'm guessing that the other issues are somehow related to this apparent hardware failure. I'm sending this lemon back.

Yes, sending it back sounds like a good idea. First make sure USB is enabled in the BIOS.
