Hello!

I am running windows 7 64-bit on a 3.1 GH Core 2 Duo processor with a 4 GB DDR3 ram installed and a 160 GB HDD (C: is a 100GB partition). I have not installed any unwanted apps but Avira antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, MS Office 2013, and other applications of everyday use that are essential for any computers.

For quite sometime now, I am noticing that my system is continuously freezing or hanging while running for just mere seconds and then resume normal work again. I have checked all I could to see where the problem lie, such as cleaning registry, checking disk for errors, disabling all the apps, etc, but the problem still persists.

Kindly, can anyone of you guide me how to get rid of this problem and make my system smooth again like it used to do?

Thank you,
DAK

Can you see any high CPU activity from task manager when this happens? Sort by CPU and keep it open and visible.

Nop! Although my CPU meter shoots up at different time intervals whenever I open an application but I assume it is a normal process of windows, no? Apart from this, CPU always keeps at 0 to 10, but yes, my RAM meter goes higher or usually stays above 50, which I do not understand because I always disable all apps running in background then why it does so? Perplexed!

Getting CPU activity at startup of programs is normal. I meant when you get the freezes.

Hmm, it shouldn't be RAM at 50%, still would you post a screenshot of memory tab of performance monitor?
How is your paging file set?

Hi!

Sorry for late reply, had an accident three days ago in which I ended up having a distal radius fracture and some head injuries, so typing from my one hand only today. Please see the attached screen shot of the tab about which you have asked and let me know what do you think about it?

Thanks,
DAK

Sorry to hear that, get well soon.

Can you check BIOS for technology like SpeedStep (EIST) - disable, C1E - disable, core sync - enable? These may be there or not. See which one is applicable.

You will actually need to go into BIOS to see those.

But before you do that, go to Control Panel - Power Options -> select High performance -> then Change Plan Settings->Change advanced power settings

Processor Power Management - Minimum Processor State - 100%

See if that helps

If not, boot in to BIOS and check the menus for the features I listed before.
