I'm running Win7 64-bit on a Gateway Laptop NV7802U. Suddenly, every time I start any program all that happens is the Windows Media Center starts. It seems that all programs are associated with Windows Media Center. Excel, Word, maintenance programs, anything...

Obviously some kind of malware or virus. Whatcha think?

Hello !! Welcome to SF !!

I believe the Default File type association is messed up for EXE. Follow this Tutorial and download the Registry for EXE and run it. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html then try it and that should work

Hope this helps,
Captain

You, Capt Jack, are a true Master! It seems to have worked like a charm. What do you suppose caused this horrific dilemma?

Glad that you got it working !! Well that I think is you might have accidentally asked a EXE program to open with Windows Media Center that changed universally over the Computer. And we restored it back !!

Hope this helps,
Captain
