Just recently every file I try to download either in IE9 or Firefox 6.0 gets deleted as soon as the download completes. In IE9 I get the message "<filename> contained a virus and was dleted". In Firefox there is no message but the file is not in the destination folder.

I did have AVG 2012 installed on hte Windows 7 partition but I uninstalled it as well as Zone Alarm and replaced them with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. But the problem still persists

However if I switch to my Windows XP partition I have no problem whatsoever. I have AVG 2012 and Zone Alarm on this partition.

I do not want to have to spend a whole day reinstalling Windows 7 plus all the other application software. Can anyone out there please help.

Hi all
I tend to regard ALL 3rd party AV software on a home machine as worse than USELESS -- MSE is probably your best bet --but just re-install W7 or an image from a good known backup -- remove any nasty 3rd party AV software and just install MSE.

Then be a bit more careful in what you install, and where you surf --but ABOVE ALL TAKE REGULAR BACKUPS. You can see the necessity of regular backups --

(Actually a W7 re-install shouldn't take too long -- however it can be a bit tiresome to re-install a whole load of apps together with any upgrades/fixes to say nothing of locating serial nrs when required so again you can see for future reference the importance of regular backups).

IF only people spent more time arranging their partititions so you only have the OS and apps on one and your data / music / video on others AND TAKING REGULAR BACKUPS INSTEAD OF MESSING ABOUT WITH 3rd party AV software you'd ALL be better off.

Cheers
jimbo

I was headed down the "There is still some 3rd Party virus software installed or a virus is still running" path myself. I thought seeing the running processes might clue us in on exactly what.

I personally dislike MSE. I use malwarebytes and have never had a problem, but I'd agree most others are a waste of resources, and the free versions are particularly useless. Each to his own.
