All files encrypted without me encrypting them.

OK, yesterday, a random .exe was found on my desktop (that i never downloaded) and it opened automatically saying that all of my files were encrypted and i needed to click something to remove encryption... Sensing an obvious trojan I decided to shred the file with iobit and everything was fine. Now, just 5 minutes ago, I went on my computer and attempted to open up chrome to play a game. The shortcut wouldn't work. Even though it worked perfectly fine an hour ago. Odd, I thought so I opened it up from start menu and when it loads it shows the page you see when you first install chrome. All of my bookmarks, settings, extensions, etc were GONE! Getting REALLY worried now I opened up documents, and every... single... file... had a .encrypt on the extension... I CAN'T DO ANYTHING! I cant open anything, listen to music, play games, try to fix whatever the---- happened I can't do ANYTHING! I need DESPERATE help. I am typing this on a different computer right now... If I should wipe my laptop someone let me know...:shock:

uhm, about the Chrome shortcut can please try to right click on it and view the "Target: " to check if it targets to a malicious file?

Sounds to me like you got hit with cryptolocker or fbi moneypack.

Do you have a backup of your data? Yes or no?

If so I suggest wiping the drive and reinstalling windows, reinstalling your antivirus and then restoring your data from a backup.

If not, we can look into the slim chance of getting your data back.
