all files hidden after malware popup

Hi, My AVG popped up with several malware popups, next minuite all my desktop icons, files and folders have disappeared, includeing the control panel list.

i can sill find my files if searching for them so they are still there but hidden

I haven't created a backup restore point on this pc

Any help will be much appreciated

Well Here are a few things i could suggest.

Did your virus have anything to do with FakeHDD?

If it did this should help.

I think there is also a command in command prompt to un-hide as well. It was posted by Brink on this forum ill have to find it.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to restore it back to a couple of days ago even though i never made a restore point.
IT fixed most of the problem, but music and pictures were still missing. or showing as ghost if i ticked show hidden folders.

you may pick either one from MSE Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows and avast! | Download Free Antivirus Software or Internet Security and to keep away from malwares Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download mbam is a good choice.

also do a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html and restart upon finding violations.

Good luck with finding good virus scanners

Also some people have trouble uninstalling avg so you might google "AVG removal tool" if you have trouble getting it off.

I also suggest you try to get it off as two virus scanners will probably conflict with each other.
