All Files NOT showing

I have an external HD that I store ebooks on. About a week ago only the files (and folders) A-Mi are showing. All the others are there but I can NOT see them.

Any ideas on how to get all files and folders to show?

You have tried switching views? List, Details or tiles. The right-click menu in Explorer also has options to Sort files and Group by various parameters.

I know sometimes I have issues seeing files on shared drives and a reboot seems to fix the problem. Another question: can you see the files in a Command window using the dir command?

After running fix files (included in Win 7) for that HD, my files are finally showing. It did take a while.
