Hi

With Vista I became a big fan of the search capacity into the "start menu - all programs" when I need to launch a software.

But in Seven (currently using 7000 x64) I'm a little bit disappointed about some strange thing in there.

I've got 2 softwares that I use often:
- Mediacoder (for encoding video files)
- M.Play Home center (for my IR module and remote control)

For the first of this two I start to type: M E D I A ... But as long as I do not type MEDIAC (and more) the only choice Seven propose to me is Mediaplayer and MediaCenter.

For M.Play I need to type M.Play H without what it still propose to me MediaCenter and Mediaplayer.. and only this 2 !!

I really do not understand why typing M.P give me the only choise of WMP and WMC ! It should display M.Play Home Center. As it should display Mediacoder when I start to type Media.

And Under Vista it give to you the most used answer. If you have multiple possibility, the first on the list will be the one you often chose.
In Seven, the choise is WMP and WMC.. until you type enough letter which became quickly annoying. This thing is supposed to make faster the way of launching apps... but not in Seven :sarc:

Does your Seven work like that ?

I know this won't fix your problem but you can always pin those aps to the start menu or taskbar and then you don't have to type anything :)

Hi

In fact I'm not really interrest by an annexe solution.

I just want to understand why Seven work like this. For me it's look like: "see our WMP and WMC apps! You have to use them and nothing else!"

Seven do not have to work like that. It do not have to put MS software in front instead of other software, especially when I type something really different in the searchbox : why M.Pl give me MediaPlayer or MediaCenter?!?

And for your answer: I don't want to pin this apps because they are not "daily apps" like my messenger, Outlook or other.

I think because of the wording used on your programs are so similar to the default programs it thinks that you want WMP, maybe a keyboard shortcut might be a good solution.
