Hey guys, the other night i left my computer on and it said it was going to auto update at 3am, i came back downstairs to see it had updated and tried to use my mouse/keyboard (wireless Microsoft ones) and nothing was happening.. it said the windows update had installed correctly in the bottom right hand side, i guess the only thing it can be is a driver issue as it works on my windows XP partition i am using now and also works on a recovery disk/startup to get into bios.. the problem i have is i have tried a USB to Ps/2 connection with no luck (with my wireless mouse/keyboard and a wired one of both), ive gone into system recovery and apparently i don't have any system restore points (im 99% sure i did/do) ive booted into safe mode the story is the same there.. no USB's work.. ive also tried plugging it into USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports with no luck..

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks very much.

Type in the search box " add and remove programs " then click on updates and remove the last updates to see if this corrects your problem.

Something else you might try would be to insert your MB driver CD and install the chipset drivers from the CD.

cant do either of these as i cant use my ps/2 conntion or my keyboard/mouse, the only thing i can do when i get onto windows 7 is use the reboot button on the front of my tower case.. i think i found the update that caused the issues its kb2529073, and also when i go into the recovery console and click system restore it has no restore points and said im in limited diagnostic mode.. whatever that is.

Thanks, Jordon.

If you can't navigate at all that makes things really tough, have you tried F8 and instead of choosing safe mode click on the restore last known good configuration?
The other thing you may try is using your Windows 7 CD and using the repair function there, don't know if that will resolve a driver issue such as yours but it is worth a try because the only alternative is to reinstall Windows.

Tried the F8 and last known good config, right when the problem occured with no luck and have tried again recently.. inserted the windows 7 cd recovery disk and done a startup repair (although i knew it wouldnt work), also tried doing a system restore and apparently i dont have any restore points.. also tried some command line methods for deleteing/disabling the patch, and had a look around in regedit while i was there with no luck either.. (although i didnt really know where to look..), kinda stuck now as to what to do.. i need alot of the stuff that is on that partition and dont feel like a massive copy over to this partition with a fresh reinstall to copy it all back again and reinstall all the programs, if anyone has any idea's then id love to hear them :D.

Thanks, Jordon.

If you can get to the drive then do a search for any old registry files, try using *.reg and see if anything pulls up, if so use the one that is the newest but before the problem started.

You can also use the find function inside of regedit to locate the file that you are looking for.
